Employer-arranged insurance: useful, but check
Many uitzendbureaus arrange insurance and deduct the premium from your wage. This is legal and often convenient — but compare the premium against the open market once a year.
Warning signs
If any of these are true, ask questions calmly and consider switching.
- You cannot see the insurer's name on your payslip
- Premium is much higher than market rates (~€140–170/month basic)
- Cover ends the day your contract ends, even mid-month
- You cannot change insurer freely once a year (Jan 1)
Your right to switch
Every resident can switch insurer between Nov 12 and Jan 31. Notice for current insurer must be in by Dec 31.
Common questions
Can my recruiter cancel my insurance if my contract ends?
They can stop deducting premium, but the policy itself often runs until you cancel. Sort this within days of the contract ending.
